With the release of the new PS3 for $500AUS, many new Australians will have a brand new PS3 sitting in their lounge room. With the PSN being home to many amazing exclusive & multi-platform games, these are the games every PS3 owner, past, present & future needs to own.
Bionic Commando Rearmed for the best single player shooter experience currently available on the PSN. BCR has fantastic graphics, gameplay & is ruthlessly hard on the harder difficulties. With the recent introduction of the easy difficulty & trophies, BCR is a must have.
Crash Commando for a thrilling online experience, CC is unprecedented in multiplayer online games exclusive to the PSN. A side scrolling game, it incorporates great graphics with clever level design, interesting weapons & fast based action. Downloadable content has just arrived too, with new maps & character skins.
Fat Princess for a unique twist on the tried & true formula of capture the flag, FP incorporates a twisted sense of humour with violence, great cartoony graphics and very clever level design. With several game modes, up to thirty-two players & six character classes, Fat Princess is a fantastic game worthy of your hard earned cash.

FAT PRINCESS
Flower to show how unique and emotional games can be with some clever game design. The premise of Flower is simple, the player guides a petal through fields using the Sixaxis motion controls, exploding flowers to change a city from a dull & grey city to a vibrate, breathing city. You have to experience this game to see exactly how amazing games can be.
The PixelJunk Series for the original & addictive gameplay which players have been addicted to for hours. PixelJunk Eden has some of the most unique and amazing graphics currently on the PS3 in full 1080p, while PJ Monsters can easily be played for 50+ hours due to its addictive tower defence formula which has spawned an upcoming PSP game. PixelJunk Racers is also a great buy, but isn't as addictive as the previous two. With many awards & expansions already tied to the series & a fourth game coming before the end of the year, the PixelJunk series are all fantastic buys.
Super Stardust HD for the best asteroids clone ever - SSHD has simple gameplay that creates a unique twist with three different asteroid 'classes' which require you to switch between three weapons - Rock Crusher, Gold Melter & Ice Splitter. This simple mechanic added much depth to the game, along with several gameplay modes and high score boards it became extremely addictive. With two expansion packs which added more gameplay modes & a multiplayer mode it became an amazing game with a very basic gameplay mechanic.

Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars for the most frantic, unique & addictive split screen available on the PSN, maybe on the PS3. SSARPBC has a simple premise - soccer, with cars. However, with 6 completely different maps and many challenges, if you even slightly enjoy soccer, you may become completely addicted to the wild gameplay of SSARPBC, especially if play with a mate.
This is just one persons opinion on the PSN games that every PS3 owner must own. There's many others out there I'd recommend, such as Age of Booty, Battlefield 1943, Burn Zombie Burn, Cuboid, Echochrome, Everyday Shooter, Flow, High Velocity Bowling, The Last Guy, Linger In Shadows, Lumines Supernova, Magic Ball, Noby Noby Boy, Pain, Savage Moon, Shatter, Worms, Zen Pinball & a lot more, the PSN is just a treasure trove of amazing games. These are only my favourites, there's a lot more I would recommend.
With PSN cards arriving in Australia within 2 months, Trine, Explodemon, Dead Nation and the previously PC / Xbox 360 Live Arcade exclusives Braid & Castle Crashers just around the corner, the PSN store still has some great months in store for us.
